HS30-H Posted June 26, 2005 Share #1 Posted June 26, 2005 'Big Sam' - the well known 240Z race car - was invited to participate in the 2005 Goodwood Festival of Speed here in the UK.Owner ( and classiczcars.com member ) NickH drove the car up the hillclimb course, and was rubbing shoulders with some fairly legendary names. I was there on set-up day ( Thursday ) and official practice day ( Friday ) and managed to take a few static pics. See them here: Big Sam - Goodwood 2005 See more information about the event at the official Goodwood Festival of Speed site: Goodwood Festival of Speed Cheers,Alan T. NZeder Posted June 26, 2005 Share #2 Posted June 26, 2005 Excellent to see Big Sam back and to get an invite to such a festival is a real credit to the race history of the car and to all the work that has gone in to get the back on the road/track again. Congrads to the owner NickH.
Zrush Posted June 26, 2005 Share #3 Posted June 26, 2005 Thanks for those Big Sam pics Alan. That is my favortie Z racecar of all time. I realize it's just a car but all the reading I have ever done on Sam makes it seem as if he is "alive". Yes, congrads to NickH.Thanks again Alan :classic: Vicky
Alfadog Posted June 26, 2005 Share #4 Posted June 26, 2005 I don't know much about Big Sam, but I will have to do a search on this site some day as from the sounds of it it was a pretty important car. Thanks for the pictures!
260DET Posted June 27, 2005 Share #5 Posted June 27, 2005 Great pics, terrific, thanks muchly Alan Will have to check out your site with a view to getting specific info on the ZG specs, including wheel details. That may help in allowing ZG replicas to compete in Australian historic motorsport events, particularly the popular targas where at present virtually nothing extra over stock is allowed. Z Kid Posted June 27, 2005 Share #6 Posted June 27, 2005 Awesome pics alan, it really is an amazing car. Thankyou very much for taking the time to show us them. Can be yet more inspiration for me to get off my arse and work on my car.260DET, surely the ZG being a factory produced model should be allowed, I mean they let in "280Z's" which have HS30 firewall numbers? EricB Posted June 30, 2005 Share #12 Posted June 30, 2005 Great pics Alan.I hope Speed TV won't delay too long in getting us their one hour tv special covering the event.... I love the name of the class "street fighters"... What other cars were in this class? Obviously I can't imagine that the Reid Primera or the old GrpC/IMSA car parked either side of Big Sam were in this same class... so whom else?-e
