Did some googleing

http://members.dodo.net.au/~corvette/

also found this somewhere else:

"This is a Perentti coupe, Corvette Stingray C3 look-a-like only cheaper. Fibreglass Australian built tilt front body. Built on tough as nails Holden 1 tonner chassis. Engine is 350 Chev V8 with Turbo 350 auto trans. Engine has 4 barrel Holley and alloy manifold. All parts used in car come from locally delivered vehicles (eg Gemini, Kingswood etc) so spares are easilly available."

So I guess, no its was never a Z. It used to be a holden.

This is the product of an body shop that lacks the proper ventilation. Sniffing to much clear coat and paint fumes will result in this type of modification whereas the car looks as if it has already been wrecked!

"OK people move along move along, nuttin' ta see here even vaguely related to a Zed car!!"

As Mr Camo stated, Australian kit car loosely styled after the '68-73 Corvette. "Perentti" I believe is an Aboriginal word for Goanna or large lizard!?!

This particular one has been further (heavily) modified to represent the star car from the Mark Hammil Movie of the '80's "Corvette Summer". The real car from the movie came "down under" for a promo tour and ended up for sale in a Parramatta (lookit up) car yard!...saw the movie when it came out, and saw the car in the sale yard. You gotta remember, late seventies, early eighties the custom car, body kits, aero kits, murals etc were king...this car was the ducks nuts... for a short while, bit like disco clothes I s'pose!

Bit of trivia and probably why the car was sold in Australia,...it was built right hand drive for the movie!!

Jim.
