sadly, I can't find any of the paperwork/dates from the donor car, also a '77, but the engine number is between the engine numbers listed for the above cars, comparing the VIN and engine numbers between the three, the production numbers and engine numbers match sequence, so the VIN should be HLS30371358, which has already seen the crusher.

MikeW- zhome.com does have a register started, but only for the 'classic/collectable (early 240Z and special edition models on later vintage). I suppose that may be a starting point. I can also start taking the camera to the junkyard as well to snap pictures of the vin plates if you are going to pursue this.

What we need here is a database. I'd be happy to put something together. I suppose no one would have a problem submitting just their member id, build date, and VIN, but it would be cool to also track other things like color (original and current), options, mileage, purchase date, etc.

If your going to do this, could you please include engine casting numbers on cars with original engines.

There is little [if not nothing] known about these numbers.

There is a seperate thread on this that has been recently re-birthed.

I endorse MikeW's comments that it would be great to consolidate these offerings into a database - and he has even offered to take on the task. Can't get better than that.

The WAZRegister is currently accumulating data from Australia and New Zealand Zeds and is using VIN, Engine #'s both original and current, colour, transmission, month and year of manufacture, interior and location as the key information collection headings. They also collect information of deceased cars which could be useful in tracking some history.

I'd be happy to create the database and add the engine casting number. As far as the ZHome listing goes I submitted my information a couple of times but it never seemed to make the list. I don't know what support there is for something like this in the software that runs this site; that would obviously be the best way to go. Members could simply fill out their information - perhaps in your user profile - and have it immediately available to everyone.
