Hi all,

I don’t get

I just opened my R180 diff and this is what it says on the wheel

39:10 BX 2 10 12

There is also written on the wheel with yellow paint, 113

Can somebody help me out because I always thought a R180 was not in a 3.9 version??? :(

This is not the original diff of the car..

thanks Andrew,

Your are close! But I changed the diff in Holland so it ‘could’ not be a UK diff....but on the other hand I don’t where the 2e diff came from.

It’s a funny thing. You read; many Z drivers are looking for a 3.9 so you think that’s the one I must have. Never realized it was just under me ‘seat’. Now I changed it ‘in the blind’ for a R200 3.7 :nervous: ROFL

Wow. You guys do get it rough. All aussie 240Zs come standard with 3.9:1s. My apologies. Does that mean someone will want mine? :D I'll be changing mine to a 4.1/4.4 R200.

Dave

That's correct, take a look at the list of what diff and ratio was in what auto posted above...that is all US information. The R180 3.9 was only made avaliable in the US for 6 months in the front end of a 720 4x4 truck. :surprised

So yes, may state side Z owners are looking for the R180 3.9 diff and will likely have a very hard time locating one or never see one. Many here would want your diff BUT probably not for the cost of shipping. ROFL

FYI: I lucked out (more like a lot of phone calling) and located an R180 3.9 diff in Arkansas two years ago. It only had 25000 miles on it, the guy totalled the truck when it was only 2 years old and the diff has been sitting on a shelf at the junk yard ever since. IIRC it cost me about $105 including shipping to my door. :D

NO! It's not for sale either. :P

No problem by me...it's tall enough for me, and I get better gas mileage with the 3.5...if I was racing it or wanting real fast acceleration off the line, it'd be different...the 4 speed (and my 77 5 speed) has real low gearing, so I think imo that it works great with the 3.5....

Just my .02 dollars...
