Hi all,

I helped Dogma with this and then realized it's probably something other people would want to know.

This is how to post a tech article (or any other post) with images.

Mike,

1. I have about 60 pictures, and I made them small to not offend any modem people....

That's the first step! :)

I would like to make 6 or 7 posts, with 8-10 pictures thumbnailed at the end of the post. How do I do thumbnails, and if I wanted to, how do I show pictures from that album in the body of my article?

These are two separate concepts. I'll cover each one.

1) Thumbnails at the end of each post: This can be done by simply typing your tech article and adding the images as attachments to the post. At the end of every post there is an option to attach a file. If you use .JPG they will appear as small thumnails that people can click to view.

2) Images inside your article: This can be done by uploading your images to the gallery (already done) first. After that, simply use the image tag inside your article. The image tag is easier to use by clicking on the "insert image" icon in the editor screen. The system will ask you for the location. The location depends on where it shows up in the gallery and will need to be a URL like: http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/blah.gif

To find the URL's of all your images simply navigate to the image and right-click on the image you want to use. Click properties and you'll see the URL listed.

It's a learning experience, but, the end result can usually be pretty good.

2. Is there a word limit on posts size?

Yea, but I can't remember how long. The smart thing is to type up your article in a text editor on your local PC. Then take pieces of that and copy/paste into your article.

I also encourage everyone to put images in our galleries before inserting them inside posts. If the image is hosted elsewhere, the image link may break if the image is deleted (or moved) on the other server. For instance, if you have images hosted at one server today, it doesn't necessarily mean it will be there in a year. :)
