love 240z, want to buy and update one

Recommended Posts

I have a 3 cars (Mercedes SL and SEC and a brand new Nissan Murano) but for soem reason I have always been drawned to the early 240 Z. I think the lines on the 240z remind me of a daytona ferrari. I have joined this club because I am interested in picking up a 1970 or 1971 Z and updating it to a modern look. I know that statement alone will bring me heckles from the purists, but I want to update with modern wheels, engine and drivetrain and shave of side lights and other cosmetic updates. I basically want to modernize to look like a hybrid ferrari, or as I like to say a "Japarri".

I live in the 818 area code of the San Fernando Valley, CA and I would love to find an excellent mechanic and other craftsman that can help me with this project. I am going this weekend to look at an un-restored 1970z.

Thanks in advance to all those that reach out and offer assistance,

-Ian G

every man who ever did anything of signifigance will have his critics. this site is full of zcar purist who love the vintage z as you do. but remember they love their car the most and anything else will be second. so build your dreamarri and make yourself proud.

if you want good advice, spend time searching the archives and then ask specific questions. so far it sounds as if you need a rolling chasis, seats and a dash from a 240. if you want all else new then an rb series motor will give you that, and the rest is cosmetic. good luck, i hope you have as much time as you do money.

btw i once did some business with renntech in palm beach fl and if you ever wanted to put your high performance benzes into the

" i don't belive that " category. then they are the ones to hire.

good luck, i'll be happy to tell you what i know.
