I have two identical foam sheets that appear to be sound deadenors. They are black on one side and foam backed. They are very flexible. I am guessing they go under the dash. I cannot remember where they go. They appear to have been glued in place. Can anyone help me out here? :nervous:

Can you post a picture showing them alongside a ruler?

I do not know how to post pics on this forum. These foam pieces are about 24" wide. They have a smaller retangular piece on the bottom and kinda funny diamond shaped on top. I am guessing they are designed for sound/noise control.

I do not know how to post pics on this forum.

When you're editing a post (not using the quick mode) just scroll to the bottom and click on the "Manage Attachments" button to add your picture. There seems to be a size limit of 1024x768 on pictures.

Like Ed I can't think what that might be.

What are the size of the two pieces? Is it possible that it's the foam that goes on the vent door behind the control panel and in front of the heater core? Probably not because you say it's two identical pieces. Or, what about the inlet & outlet on the heater core where they go outside of the control panel & into the hoses that go back to the engine? These are very small, maybe 2"x2".

Nevermind, you said 24"x24".

Based on: "a smaller retangular piece on the bottom and kinda funny diamond shaped on top", and that they are about 24" ...in one direction or another.....

My WAG is the tool bucket liners.

However, as an aside, Year or Model (at least), would help narrow it considerably, a photo would be ideal, if not at least a good description and dimensions of the item.

Now if you don't mind waiting for the correct answer......

G'Day there Enrique,

According to his profile, he has a '71 240Z.

I'm inclined to agree with you re. the tool box liners. Can't think of anything else that matches his description. I spent about half an hour or so going over "Precious" and that's about all I could find that MIGHT be what he's talking about.

Rick.

I went through the microfiche looking at all the interior panels. I agree that they are probably the tool cubby liners. My 73 has them, they are all tucked in there nice and neat and glued to the metal. It looks like they are one piece and have been cut in a specific pattern and folded to fit in the opening and then unfolded and stuck to the sheet metal. I pried a little on one and she's stuck pretty good so I left it alone.

Maybe someone has one out of their car and can shoot a pic of it.

Chris

Just in case anyone wants to know what a tool box liner looks like after being pulled out see the attached picture. It turns out I've only got one liner. I may use some leftover dynamat inside the tool boxes instead.

They are liners for my tool boxes.(Nice pic!) How did I forget them? I only took them out 10 months ago. Geeez, it is tough getting old. Thanks guys. I will put them in tomorrow. They will make for a quiet ride! Here is where they go, right? I am gaining on this sucker!
