Worried....how do u protect ur z from being stolen

Could you go into a little detail on how you would wire a remote swith to an electric fuel pump? I have an Alpine alarm on my Z and a Holley Fule pump. I'm kind of curious.

I also have a Grant steering wheel with the removable/locking quick release hub. If anyone has any questions about something like that let me know.

Your fuel pump should be isolated with a relay. All alarm systems have outputs that will trigger a relay that would allow you to enable or disable different features in your car, including your electric fuel pump.

Early Z's are very easy to break into, and steal. We saw a gang of guys in Northern California stealing Z cars in the early to mid 80's.

Popular ways of breaking into a Z. drilling a hole through the bottom of the battery, killing the battery, and disabling any alarm (accept lojack and a battery backup siren). prying up the flap that covers the battery and disabling the battery.

To steal a early since all the keys and locks are worn a "butter knife" will open a z car door and start turn the key to start the car...New door locks featuring a rotary key is the solution for this...Often times one of the quarter windows will get broken for access that way as well....

Just the other day there was a message on the news here in town that one of the local police departments had started using LOJACK. There was a car stolen and they found it within a hour of the theft. The owner had only owned the car for a short while and dident even know it was protected by Lojack. the local Dept had just activated there systime that day . Good timing ! Well, most all alarms have at least 1 output wire used for accessories, its usually a simple negitive ground output upon arming of the alarm. (hit the arm button, or perhaps a 2nd button on your transmitter and the wire sends out a constant "ground" until disarmed or turned off) and usually is only enough of an output to control a relay (an electronic switch) which in turn can turn your holley pump off by breaking one of the wires going to it...in line somewhere un obvious...meaning you dont wire into the pump right at the pump. you dont want to make it to easy to bypass/hotwire.

the diagram below is the basic wiring for it. the terminals are numbered, just wire the relay up as shown. on terminals 86 and 85, youll need to combine the diode and the wire into 1 crimped connector or 1 soldered unit. pay attn. to which way the diode is facing, the striped side closer to terminal 86.

Im sorry but im not sure the color coding on your specific alarm, if you have the wiring diagram itll be easy. otherwise you will need to test the wiring on the alarm with a multimeter.
