Just picked these up 2nd hand. 16x7's Just need a set of adapters now to make then fit. I just propped it in place to see how it looks. Not too over the top for the look of the car I think. Can't wait to get them on there, but I'll have to fix the brakes first.

They look good. Has the ride gotten better or worse when u put the adapter? I was told not to go with 16s/17s because i would need an adapter which would make the ride very unpleasent. I dont know thou. Let me know!

I'm still yet to fit them. I got my brake shoes today, and I installed my new rear springs and shocks yesterday and I'm halfway through replacing the uni joints in the halfshafts while it is all apart. The plan is to get it back on the road tonight, then get some adaptors next week. I'll have to drive it with the new springs and old wheels on order to make some comparisons. Too many changes at once, but since it's a daily driver, I may as well get everything done since it's off the road. Don't want to take it off again.

bemmer, you can have any size wheels you want...but if they are designed for a modern car, or front wheel drive, (like the ones speedy blue has) then you need adapters to compensate for the offset not being correct for a z. For example, at motorsport auto you can get the popular panasports at 16 x 7 and you don't need any adapters, and they have the correct offset.

Nice look! I love seeing something different. They look like they will fill the opening well. Any thought to trhe change in overal diameter? I'm interested in how close your sppedo will be and what correction you make. Please send your report when you get to that point.

ok cool. what is the offset for a 240z?

The offset for a z is 0mm, but most people accept 7-15 or so as acceptable. These are off a 180sx and have a 38mm offset.

I was playing with a wheel size calculator the other day. 225/50-16's are slightly bigger than 175/75-14's in overall diameter, but less then the 235/60-14's I'm running now so it will be closer to original that what it is at the moment.

I would think that with adapters, this puts unnatural stress on your wheel bearings......kinda like those ricers with the wire wheels sticking out 6 inches on each side....Zeds look best with 0 offset wheels.(ala 911 turbo deep dish)....

Think of it this way: 38mm offset rim with a 38mm adaptor bolted to it to set the offset back to 0mm. The rim and adaptor will act like one piece while it is bolted together, so for the hub, it feels just like is has a zero offset rim on there. Same loads as stock. Now if I were to use a spacer larger than 38mm, then there would be loads on the axle that are excessive.
