Posted July 13, 200519 yr comment_130563 I've got a pair of seat belt clips and am trying to figure out where they attach. I've searched these groups, the galleries here, and the parts CD with no luck. I'm assuming that they mount just behind the side windows through holes in the front edge of the quarter window plastic trim. There are three holes along the forward edge of the trim piece. The top hole is obviously for the coat hanger hook as it has a small index hole next to it. It's the other two that I'm not sure about. The lower hole provides access to a threaded hole in the unibody. The middle hole provides access to a thin metal tab that has a small hole in it and which appears to have once had a screw mounted there. Both the middle hole and the lower hole are too small for the standard plastic rivets. Therefore, which one does the seat belt clip use and what is the other used for? July 13, 200519 yr comment_130566 Hi Mike,First, tell me what the production date is for your car. Is it a series 1 with the vents in the rear hatch? Next, how long are the seat belt hooks? There were two different kinds, one kind that mounted on the seat back outside edge were about 1 and 1/4 inches long were for series 1 cars. The other, about 1 and 3/4 inches long for the series 11 cars were mounted with a screw in the lower quarter window hole you spoke of. The middle hole in the quarter window trim was for a screw and clear plastic washer that helped secure the trim. Let me know which car you have and I'll try to help clarify what I have just said, if needed.DanOriginal owner HLS30-204191/71 240ZIZCC #12324 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/16561-seat-belt-clips/#findComment-130566 Share on other sites
July 13, 200519 yr comment_130567 http://www.geocities.jp/datsunz903/washer.htmlThe seat belt "clip" hanger comes in two varities. The one mounted on the lower hole, Mike, is 1-1/2" long and solid black plastic. The clips also screwed to the side of the seat and they are half the size and plastic covered metal. I need three of them.(revised) correctomundo! If your quarter window frames have the little tab and there is a hole in the interior panel, then you need the clear washer and the screw. July 13, 200519 yr Author comment_130578 Hi Mike,First, tell me what the production date is for your car. It's a very early Series II 1972 model year built 9/71. Attached is a picture of the clips that I have. I got them a while back from someone else so I can't be sure they're right for my car. From what you and Chris have said it sounds like these do go in the bottom hole that I mentioned. I'd love to see a picture of the clear plastic washer and screw for the other hole. July 14, 200519 yr comment_130579 Mike,If those clips are about 1 and 3/4 inches long, and they appear to be, they do mount in the lower quarter window holes with a machine screw. Check 26th-Z's post above for the site reference for a picture of the clear washer and screw.Dan Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/16561-seat-belt-clips/#findComment-130579 Share on other sites

July 14, 200519 yr comment_130588 Mike, Is that the tab on the window frame you have? That's the tab for the screw. There are frames without those tabs and no screw or clear washer either. The interior trim warps and doesn't fit well without the screw and I believe the feature was added to the cars early on. My cars don't have clear washers. The other picture is the seat mounted hook. It is very small. The link is to Kat's site Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/16561-seat-belt-clips/#findComment-130588 Share on other sites
July 14, 200519 yr Author comment_130591 Yes, that's the metal tab I was referring to. When I recovered my seats I didn't recall seeing a provision for the seat mounted clip. I went ahead a fabricated a clear washer out of plexiglass. What do you think? July 14, 200519 yr comment_130597 Mike,The clear washer looks good. The bottom of the washer is flat, and the top is rounded off on the outside and inside edges, like an upside down U shape. The screws are black oval countersunk phillips heads and are about 1/2 inch long. Hope that helps if you are going for total originality. I know, I'm a purist geek.Dan Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/16561-seat-belt-clips/#findComment-130597 Share on other sites
July 14, 200519 yr comment_130609 I saw those clear plastic washers and screws in my extra parts. Now I know where they go. But, what are they? Does something slip over these plastic screws or ????????????Wait a minute... I but they are there to keep the plastic from warping. Am I right? July 14, 200519 yr comment_130613 Here's a picture of the washer. I found this on McMasetr-Carr, but the smallest they offer is for a #6 screw and it's 7/16" in diameter. But, at least we now know what to look for. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/16561-seat-belt-clips/#findComment-130613 Share on other sites
