info on motor swap from zx to z

i have a 1977 280z with auto 3 speed ....and a 1982 280zx with 5 speed stick ...can i take the motor and tranny from th 82 280zx and put them in the 77 280zROFL

I met a guy at MSA Nationals recently that swapped engines from standard 280Z 1978 engine to fuel injected 280ZX motor. he did say that he had someone else drop motor for him, but from what he said motor mount and tranny were no problem. You will need to do some work converting from automatic to manual transmission. Clutch linkage, pedal, and hydraulic lines, but not to discourage you it can be done. He also mentioned that he purchased the majority of the parts from Z dismantler, but since you have both cars to get needed parts you'll zip through it with a breeze. Sorry can't give you any technical help on this one, I've only done them on a Chevy and Ford vehicles.
