I am looking at a couple of 240z's and having trouble deciding which to buy. One is a 73 with tripple webbers in need of paintfor $1700

One is a rust free orignal 72 in good shape for $5000

and the last in in good shape with new suspension and a rebuilt engine for $3200

Why not buy all three?

It depends on what you want... If you are a purist, go for the original 72. If you just want to whoop up on 'macho' cars, go for the tripple webber - nothing like pulling up to one of those tricked out cars with a so-so looking car and then tearing them up. If the $3200 car is pretty clean, it may be worth saving some money from the $5K car and you can have some fun cleaning/fixing it up - personalizing it.

I'm sure which ever way you go you'll have a ball.

Good luck.

It all depends on how much you want to spend. If the 73 for 1700 doesn't have any "hidden issues" that will be the cheapest and quickest way into a Z. But for the price it may have some rust hiding somewhere the owner doesn't want to deal with. A set of triple Webers will cost almost half of what he's asking, I'd check it over carefully.

I'd have to seriously look at the one for 3200. It's not too expensive and it's not so cheap that it may have a lot of problems. Or, if you don't want to do any work and want a nice car to drive and show off go for the 72 for 5k. IMO the only way to decide would be to make a list of good points/bad points on each of these cars and decide from there.

rust is going to be your main issue with any of these cars. first and foremost that is what you want ot look for then go from there. the tirples are nice but again like 2many said they cost 1295 new. so what does that tell you. especially if thats his main selling point. look them all over carefully and decide from there
