15 X 8 @ 0 Too Much?

Why would anyone need 8" wide wheels? You know that you are increasing the drag on your Z don't you?

Yea, I know - and added unsprung weight - I was thinking of looks alone.

are some of you ppl ill?!?!?!? first ,the drag increase will only take place AFTER the vehicle speed reaches 100+ MPH. and a stock Z would not be very stable at that speed anyway (the pilot would be have to be suicidal.) now, on the other hand if mods have been done to the vehicle, greater care should have been taken into consideration, since the fenders can be flared, or replaced with a "widebody" kit. im currently looking at fabbing my own fenders for this very purpose.

ROFL. You guys kill me!

Victor,

I am running 225/45/15's on 8" Diamonds on a lowered , but no coil over car , and I had to roll the fender a bit to keep them from rubbing on tight autocross

corners . These are Hooiser DOT tires and they tend to run wide for there advertised size.

Mike

I've been researching Diamond wheels for their cost effectiveness, but I have found that they have 2 potential obstacles to covercome.:finger:

1. Their wheels must be balanced lug centric vs. hub centric.which is a problem for street applications and most tire shops.

2. Even with a 16x8 wheel, there a potential brake clearance problems because the inner rim dia. only winds up being 15".

I'll be up-grading my rotors to a 4/4 setup and am concerned about that.

The pic is of a guy who stretched 205's on an 15x8 rims!

More on these wheels at HybridZ.

I've run circle track steel wheels from Paulsen for the last 8 years. I would assume that they're made the same way the DRWs are but I don't know that for sure. In any event, I've never had a balance problem and they've seen 120+ quite a few times at the track.

It doesn't seem to me like it would be very hard to cut the hole true on a lathe, although it might be a bit of trouble finding a lathe large enough. Another option would be to use a hole saw. Terry Oxendale was able to drill the center hole for his brake rotors on a drill press, I wouldn't think that this would be too terribly different. http://www.fototime.com/ftweb/bin/ft.dll/detailfs?userid={7DC317B0-8EDB-4B2E-A837-F708D07C9769}&ndx=7&slideshow=0&AlbumId={207ED2D7-2DCC-4497-9C55-8C34FB382123}&GroupId={5F283F02-1DFA-46CE-9CC3-E1E26F40E4B3}&screenheight=768

You want wide? How about these? http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=106563

Check the posts from Cary and BRAAP in particular. They must be extra slow, because they not only use 13" wide wheels, but they're also only 13" tall. I guess those guys didn't read the articles in Sport Compact Car that say that 18 x 7's will make your car handle better. Just think of all that unsprung weight and drag they're running...

Wish I had some...
