Posted July 23, 200519 yr comment_131712 1. I searched. Here, zcar.com, and Hybridz.2. How do I know if these need replacing?mine are herehttp://www.cardomain.com/ride/631840/2second set of pics down....I'm debating just repainting them with some good paint on the metal and leaving them. The rubber has a few cracks in it though, so I'm not sure how to tell if they are shot or not...Any thoughts? July 24, 200519 yr comment_131742 Unless the rubber has deteriorated and they are either spongy or crumbling(check to see if they are easily deformed by pressure) they are fine. It is better to replace them if you are in doubt. Will Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/16671-strut-mount-insulator-question/#findComment-131742 Share on other sites
July 24, 200519 yr comment_131793 As Will said ^^^, also look to see whether the rubber is separating from the metal, hard to tell from the pic. Usually they last very well though Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/16671-strut-mount-insulator-question/#findComment-131793 Share on other sites
July 24, 200519 yr Author comment_131833 Well, the rubber is pretty firm, around where the spring mounts it looks like its in good shape, but as you go out to the lip and where it makes contact with the metal its a bit dried and crumbling a little bit. I'd say just on my own opinion that they are getting to the point where they should be replaced, but may not be to the point where they HAVE to be replaced.Replacing them is going to be on my 'todo' list, but for now I think the new suspension will keep these for a while ... at 62 bucks a piece I'd rather not replace them just yet I guess. Thanks for your input guys.
