Quality Seat Upholstery?

Recommended Posts

I'm restoring a white '72 240 with red interior and I wanted to get opinions on what my upholstery options are. Who makes the best seat re-upholstery kits? What other options do you suggest? I'd like to get the seats and door panels as close to original as possible (even original if possible). Both seats have unusable foam. My door panels are pretty shot as well so any input would be gladly taken.

Thanks for any input,

~OBrien

I have no reals infos yet, but I ask myself the same question.

So keep this tread runing with all the infos you have.

What I know is that those company sell kits :

MSA, $ ???

Arizona Z car 169$

Restozone 178,50$

Classic Datsun, 195$ (375$ with new foam)

Banzaï Motorworks 200$ (200$ for the foam only)

Victoria British, +- 230 $

I do not have any feed back on those, I know a few guys on this forum went with the MSA one and where very happy.

MSA seat apholstery kit - $179

This is the kit I'm using. So far I've done one seat and am very happy with the results. The grain pattern in the vinyl is close but not exact to the original pattern. But I doubt that anybody other than Carl Beck would be able to immediately tell the difference!

Thanks for the replys. In a FAQ on zhome.com there is the following quote:

"Les Cannaday, among others, can sell you the Factory Seat Cover (reproductions) used in the Vintage Z Program by Nissan. These are the closest to original that you can find - without finding original black seat covers. I believe that they are somewhere around $200.00 for the pair (tops and bottoms for both seats). leatherette is vinyl - that is the standard material in the 240Z's. "

I have searched for more information on Mr. Cannaday and the shops who participated in the Vintage Z Program with no luck. Anybody have any leads?
