yokohama AVS E100

Anyone running these tires on their cars? I ve shod my Z's with 60 series rubber for years, but its hareder to find H speed rated 14's these days.

I did find these newer Yoko's in a 205-60-14 size though. They look real aggressive, maybe to much for a vintage look, but i want the best handling I can get. I did have 215 widths in the past. Do you think it will A. throw the speedo off too much or B. hurt handling with a narrower tread than ive run before?

I am running 215-60VR-15 Yokohama AVS ES100's on my 71 240Z (with 15" ZX Turbo Swastika wheels). I don't drive in the rain, but dry traction and dry cornering are great in my opinion for a tire with a 280 treadwear rating.

205-60-14 sounds short however... They are 23.7" high, versus around 25-26" for stock tires. If you want to keep your existing 215-60-14 size, you can pretty much only get it in all season tread designs. The Michelin Pilot XGT H4 is the only H rated I know of in that size...

I like them. They came on the car as I bought it, I'm pretty sure I'll replace them with the same when needed. See attached pictures. Sorry I haven't cleaned them up, auto-crossing was yesterday and tonight is the club meeting. Maybe a quick bath at the corner car wash before the meeting.

Don't worry about the speedo, it's off anyways. :nervous:

Consider Dunlop Sport A2. Lots of sizes incl 195/70/14 which I run. Great traction, low noise, H rated. Good performance given 70 profile. Work well on 77 280z using 35 psi.

I ran them on my Z31 225-50-16 and a friend on this site uses them on his '70 240Z with 15" Panasports, 225-50-15. Wet/Dry traction there great all around.

You can step up to Yokohama AVS dB S2 I ran these on my wife's 240SX, these are All Season Ultra Performance...

I just ordered a set for my 240z and I should be receivng them in about an hour. The size is 225/50/16 which will be going on my 16x7 Panasports. Anybody else running the same setup on their 240z? What do you think?

I have a set of these in 225/50/15 on Panasports. I use them for high speed (on-track) autocross and HPDE's. So far I like them a lot. Very good traction and handling. I autocrossed in the rain with them once and they seemed to do pretty well. I am not sure how they would do for a daily driver in bad weather, but they are good for a dry, summer tire.

They do have a pretty square shoulder on them. I have heard some people complain of chunking in that area.

I am running the AVS ES100 in 225/50/15 on 15x7 Panasports. So far I lovw the tires overall. The sidewall seems a little soft for what I am used to. Also, prob due to the soft sidewall, the tires are noisy above 80mph...but I am very particular about these things. I would not run a 205/60/14.....spend the money and upgrade to 15 in rims or run a 225/50/14 if your exhisting rims are wide enough.Prob with the 14 is tire selection in any size.

Yeah well I'm going to stay with my original 14" wheel size and the good ole slotted mag style. I think I may just get all season tread design.

I'm running some Yokohama All season 215-60-14's (T speed rated)on my 280 ZX and they're not too bad.

Les Schwab has some 60 profile H speed rated tires that seem to look OK.

I already have a 3.9 rear with stock 4 speed in the 240-Z (turning 4000 at 70 MPH) and I think the 205-60-14's would just result in the engine winding up too much at hiway speeds..

(or even excess of hiway speeds!)

I guess Ive convinced myself the H speed rating is prety important because of the stiffer sidewall, other wise I would just go with S or T.

They are great on even pavement but, they make steering a little hairy sometimes on uneven pavement. I switced to Pirelli P Zeros more forgiving for every day driving with performance.
