Posted August 8, 200519 yr comment_133341 Has anybody ever heard of a performance or safety driving school that's given locally in their area? I mean like for the ordinary driver, not somebody that wants to race, like the Bondurant school). Who would be doing that kind of stuff, Insurance companies? I think I once saw a TV commercial for an insurance company showing a teen driver/student doing somethingh like that.I think it would be a good thing for everybody to go to, especially when you move to an area with difference weather (like a Floridian moving to Ohio or Maine), or just to give yourself a refresher for your reflexes, physically & mentally.thx. August 8, 200519 yr comment_133439 or just to give yourself a refresher for your reflexes, physically & mentally.Man I don't need a school for that, 45 minutes one way to work each day down one of the most dangerous 2 lane highways in northern Indiana. Reflexes tested every minute it seems some days, physically demanding, and mentally and emotionally tiring. Then on bad days throw in a couple handfuls of idiots late for work or in a hurry to get to the lake cottage for the weekend and the fun really begins! But to answer your question the SCCA has sponsered things like that locally in the past, and in Southern Michigan there is a driving school that has many different classes, defencive driving to professional levels on a closed track. August 9, 200519 yr comment_133489 The dealerships put on 2-4 schools for teens here in MA. You have to had your license for over a year to enter. Check with your insurance company about schools they might even sponsor. I sure wish more people took advanced courses.... August 9, 200519 yr Author comment_133515 In Southern Michigan there is a driving school that has many different classes, defensive driving to professional levels on a closed track. When you think about the advanced courses...You should remember that they're only there to help you develop skills to deal with those situations where you need to dodge something, or a panic brake, slipping on a wet road or some kind of un-ordinary driving situation, and taking the advanced course is NOT supposed to be some kind of license to drive faster, or take risks while driving, and it's NOT a racing school.thx Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/16821-local-performancesafety-driving-school/#findComment-133515 Share on other sites
