August 9, 200519 yr comment_133520 you would have a bolt on, so the muffler is removable without 'unwelding' the tip. bolt on muffler so you can replace it when it wears out. That's why you would bolt it on. It's just preference, possibly convenience if you ever had your muffler replaced. It's pretty normal to not weld the muffler/tip in place, at least OEM and places like Midas.
