Posted May 16, 200222 yr comment_7295 Please checkout the pic. Does anyone know what rims these are, size etc. They seem to fit the era of the car nicely. Also generally what is the max. rim/tyre size a 240z can have? Thanks, Les Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/1684-what-rims-are-these/ Share on other sites
May 16, 200222 yr comment_7296 They appear to be Panasports wheels, probably 15" or 16" but no more. I like the European taillights. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/1684-what-rims-are-these/#findComment-7296 Share on other sites
May 16, 200222 yr comment_7300 Looks like the 15x7 Panasports I have, although these could be 16's. Hard to tell. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/1684-what-rims-are-these/#findComment-7300 Share on other sites
May 16, 200222 yr comment_7302 Is that your car? It looks sweet! As far as max tire size, ask five people and you'll get 10 answers. I have run as large as P245 wide (P245/50/15). I have seen as large as P295 on a Z that was tubbed out. I heard a rumour that a guy in the Dallas Z club was running P325 on his Z (he had gotten a 'turtle' conversion that is popular among those with no style of thier own, you know; the one where the tires stick out about a foot outside the fenders). The height of the tire depends on the rim size you are running. I run a standard 14" rim, therefore I run a 60 rated tire. Total size for me is P215/60/14. Now if I went to a 15" rim, I would run a 50 rated tire to compensate; ie P215/50/15. Those guys running 17 or 18" rims have to go with a 20 or 30 rated tire. The larger the rim, the lower the tire height has to be to compensate. May 17, 200222 yr comment_7358 Yep, I thought the wheels were minilites too - they really suit the 240z. Actually, the wheels on the trailer don't look too bad either! If that car is for sale in Australia I'd buy it in a shot! May 17, 200222 yr comment_7359 Hey Aussie240, It looks like there are a few downunder members of this z club. I've been on the hunt for a 240 for about 6 months (my standards are high!). I recently discovered a great Australian site for parts and cars at http://www.ozdat.com. Check it out, there's a nice orange 1972 for sale at the moment in NSW (pricey at $12k but you could knock him down I'm sure). I ruled it out because it had been converted from auto to manual and I'm a bit (lot!) of an originality fanatic. In fact... when I spoke to the guy he said that he'd just put minilites on the car so there you go. Just to whet your appetite, here's a pic (with the old hotwire mags) Good luck and let us know if you find a car (I'll be jealous!)
