hey guys,

im attempting to put in a complete soundsytem for my Z and i wanna know where you guys put your speakers?, im probably going to put 2 6x9's in the tool boxs and then 2 10" subs in the back, i looked in the doors and there doesnt seem to be any room for speakers, does anyone have ideas for a place to put some 4" speakers in the front?

I had 6 by 9's behind the seats of my 240 but they were custom, as for the 10 inch woofers... try mounting the somehow in the corner of the rear shock towers so the the driver side speaker is facing the passenger and the passenger side woofer is facing the driver. Just to give you that... all around sound ROFL Just an idea... LOL ohh and for the front 4 inch my 280 has them mounted in the door pannels right near your feet. Heh the 240 i was restoring had em magnetised to the stearing column and the firewall... what a half arse way. But i can take some pics of the door pan speakers if youd like.. they look really nice in there.. If you wanted to get fancy you could mount them in the dash towards the far right and left with those screen covers on them like you see in modern cars nowadays

Then ill do the interior that way i can work it all together and make it look as good as possible. :)

Why would you want 6x9's if you have subwoofers? Are you going to have some tweeters in the front too? 4" for front seems a little stingey. Why not do 6.5" splits, mounted on the kick-panel - if possible. Another way people have done it is mounting either side of the centre console. Not so good acoustically but at least you don't have to cut your door panels.

i am planning on buying really good quality/expensive 4" with tweeter component speakers with crossovers, installing the 4" in stock location, and having tweeter in front on top of door edge facing drivers. and running a 10" tube (bazooka) sub ported at the back, cause they take up less space. hopefully will sound alright.

6x9's, or anyother speakers for that matter sound bad in the tool boxes. They just have no bass from them. I can't work out why, but they are good for mid range and high end still. Ther are in direct line of sight, which you need for the treble. So you need the subs to fill it out. If you check my gallery you will see my installation. It has changed a little though, less subs now but that may change again.

As for front speakers, make some pods and fit them somewhere out of the way.

Good luck with it al.
