Posted August 15, 200519 yr comment_134168 does anyone have any ideas of how to fix the battery tray rust through? mine is completely rusted through the wheel well. and i need to repair it, inexpensively mind you! im not one for OEM looks, so it can be ugly, it just has to be functional ( in other words i wanna fix it and still have the battery tray there) the battery tray itself is pretty rusted too... August 15, 200519 yr comment_134237 Lets see u can do alot of things. You could cut out the area from a donor car and weld it in place after cutting the thing out. or simply repair the area with some steel and a welder. Switch to a optimal battery or somethign similar so it won't happen again. Also i think there a few threads on this already Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/16895-getting-rid-of-batt-tray-rust-through/#findComment-134237 Share on other sites

August 19, 200519 yr comment_134819 I believer there are( or were) some companies that make repair panels for the Z. One made repair panels for the fenders. They might have a replacement for ther battery area. Before cutting up a (good) car, check this out first.Maybe somebody knows the name of that repair panel Company. You might search for 'fender repair' Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/16895-getting-rid-of-batt-tray-rust-through/#findComment-134819 Share on other sites

August 19, 200519 yr comment_134850 Right, ATABCO makes some repair panels. It looks likethis is your chance to learn how to hammer metal. Get yourself a side of a refrigerator or electric stove, and learn yourself to hammer & bend metal Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/16895-getting-rid-of-batt-tray-rust-through/#findComment-134850 Share on other sites
