Posted August 17, 200519 yr comment_134499 Hey guys, quick question. How much do y'all think the engine and tranny weigh? Pulling it tomorrow and want to put it on cheap furniture dolly from Northern Tool. Just want to make sure it will hold it, if not will have to spend time building something. Thanks Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/16930-how-much-do-they-weigh/ Share on other sites
August 17, 200519 yr comment_134507 Should be looking at around approx. 750 Lbs. total. About 600 Lbs on just the engine, and approx. 100-150 on the tranny. Eastwood has a roll around engine/tranmission stand that will support up to 1200 Lbs. I'd go with the extra margin of safety.....webdawg1 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/16930-how-much-do-they-weigh/#findComment-134507 Share on other sites
August 17, 200519 yr Author comment_134512 Thanks man, I'd go with the Eastwood model, but I am afraid it won't get here in time. I'll get the heavier dolly at Northern and maybe beef it with some 2 x 6's. Just need a way to move it after taking it out and get it out of the way. Thanks again Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/16930-how-much-do-they-weigh/#findComment-134512 Share on other sites

August 17, 200519 yr comment_134548 zguitar, I agree. I weighed an early model 5 spd before at 75lbs, add 5 for packing material and voila - 80lbsNate Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/16930-how-much-do-they-weigh/#findComment-134548 Share on other sites
August 18, 200519 yr Author comment_134581 I knew you guys would know this!! Thanks again. Ended up just building a frame from 2 x 6's that I had and some casters I found at a friends shop. I think the wood will be fine, now I'm not sure about the casters. If it breaks I may have my friends hoist longer than I thought. I'm playing Mr Mom for three days while wife has fun in Charleston, can't get an entire hour of car time in, this sucks.
