Help me find a Z

Well, here starts my sad story. I bought a early 71 that was in rough shape and battled with it for about 4 years to keep it on the road in a halfway respectable condition. I finally put in a new four row radiator and rebuilt motor and thought that I could finally start with the bodywork when it happened. I was driving a LITTLE over the 65 mph speed limit and caught a patch of ice and flew off about a ten foot dropoff sideways. Somehow I didn't roll it and didn't take out any marker posts on the way so I thought that I pulled out ok. Shortly after I found out that the fall ripped the crossmember clean off the driverside framerail taking a big chunk with it which also caused my motor to shift sideways and hit the column which snaped my rack in half.

So heres my question, I have everything that i need for a z car (an accumulation of three, one of which i gave the chasis to a guy who had chasis issues) but my chasis is crap. I reeeeeeeeeeeally dont want to get rid of my Z but I cant find a chasis that is in my price range ( I am pretty poor after fixing my Z while going to college) and that I could get to Nebraska. If anyone has one that is at least repairable I would greatly appreciate the info. Or, if anyone has any idea how to fix this I would appreciate that too, keep in mind that my passenger door doesn't even latch now :(

I'd go get that one myself, but a second car in my backyard, even covered, might lead to a neighborhood revolt.

I'm still looking for the first one. Unfortunately, I need something a bit more complete than that one.

Thanx for the resources!! I was just thinking, I know that over the three years that they made 240's they gradualy gained weight, so is there any difference in the actual chasis (other then the early 70) or is the weight all from stuff like emissions and flame retardent interior pieces and the like? That, and is there any compatability issues with me putting 71 stuff on another year chasis? I know some stuff like the downpipe from a 73 doesn't fit right on my 71.

Valanon,

Like Bill said, all 4 years of the 240z, '70 thru '73 are the same. If it turns out that what you have won't work, let me know. A Z-Car repair shop here in the Denver area (a little over 400 miles away from you) has a number of 240Zs that he sells for parts or the entire car.

Cool, I always thought that they were the same but I never new for sure. I have a big favor to ask of somebody though, that link for the car in washington, I can't email them from my account and really would like to get ahold of the guy!!! If someone could please mail him for me I would really appreciate his number or something. Just PM it to me or something if someone would pretty please!!!

Maybe I'm missing the point but I think that your car may be repairable. Buy the frame rails from Charlie at Zed Findings, pick up a steering rack, cross member, and steering column (if needed) used from a Z parts source and you should be on your way.
