Posted August 22, 200519 yr comment_135179 hi ...quick question from a newbie.is the sump bung underneath the engine block on a 280zx?i`ve serviced loads of front wheel drive cars but nothing like this......if this is the sump (for draining) i undid the plug just above it and no oil came out.does this mean i have no oil in the sump or this isn`t the sump....sorry if it`s a dumb question :stupid: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/17007-oil-change/ Share on other sites

August 23, 200519 yr comment_135311 Your question is a little confusing. If this is a Z car with a straight six in it, then you can't hardly miss the oil pan plug. I dont know if the oil pan on a ZX is the same as on a Z but I would bet they're very similiar. It takes a big wrench on my car. The oil pan plug on a 240Z is roughly down from the number 3 & 4 pistons. If you removed the ONLY plug on the oil pan and got no oil, you got trouble. August 23, 200519 yr comment_135343 I dont know if the oil pan on a ZX is the same as on a Z but I would bet they're very similiar. They're identical. The engine, and oil pan are the same from the 240z on up through the 280zx. Here's a shot of the oil pan, thanks to kenz240z, taken from under the car, looking forward: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/17007-oil-change/#findComment-135343 Share on other sites
