A Theory - RHD HS30 Model Standard Exterior Rear View Mirror Fitment

240 in OZ

Recommended Posts

If you want to try your local Nissan dealership, here is the part numbers of the fender mounted bullet type mirrors:

96301-E4100 RH

96302-E4100 LH

Please let us know what happens with your query. If they tell you they are NLA from Nissan in Australia, ask the parts counter guy to query the part number with Japan.

I thought I should add here that the wing mirrors mentioned earlier.

96301-E4100 ASSY-BACK MIRROR OUT SIDE RH (BLACK) OP

96302-E4100 ASSY-BACK MIRROR OUT SIDE LH (BLACK) OP

These are listed as optional for HS30 in the IPC (illustration 75)

96302-E8800 ASSY-BACK MIRROR DOOR OUTSIDE AUSTRALIA

This mirror is listed for Australia for HS30 in the IPC (illustration 112)

to meet the ADR I guess

So does this mean people around the world who have HS30 Zeds with the door mirror have planned Australia delivery zeds or diverted shipment Zeds.

My 2c

cheers

Steve looking through my parts catalog (S30 R-Drive Export model's ie 240z/260z) I see the part number you have listed for op doors mirrors were for up to July 73.

96301-E4100 ASSY-BACK MIRROR OUTSIDE RH (EUROPE)

96302-E4100 ASSY-BACK MIRROR OUTSIDE LH (EUROPE)

96302-E8800 ASSY-BACK MIRROR DOOR OUTSIDE RH (FOR AUSTR)

Then futher back in the book there are again for the up to July 73 (aka 240z) there are the following part number for fender mirrors. (under the front fender section)

96301-E4100 ASSY-BACK MIRROR OUTSIDE RH (BLACK) OP

96302-E4100 ASSY-BACK MIRROR OUTSIDE LH (BLACK) OP

So I guess we can say that 96301-E4100 and 96302-E4100 are the black bullit fender mirrors (a bit confussing have the same part number listed in the fender mirror section and then in the door mirror section).

Moving on to the 260z or from Aug 73 (again still 2 seater models - will get to the 2+2 next)

The following part numbers are shown (all listed a options)

96301-E4100 ASSY-BACK MIRROR OUTSIDE RH (BLACK) up 07/76

96302-E4100 ASSY-BACK MIRROR OUTSIDE LH (BLACK) up 07/76

96301-E3400 ASSY-BACK MIRROR OUTSIDE RH up 07/76

96302-E3400 ASSY-BACK MIRROR OUTSIDE LH up 07/76 (I assume these are not the black but the chrome fendor mirrors - can anyone confirm)

then from 08/76

96301-E4600 ASSY-BACK MIRROR OUTSIDE RH

96302-E4600 ASSY-BACK MIRROR OUTSIDE LH (assume these are like the ones fitted to my Zed original - see pic up in this thread)

Then futher in again under door mirror

96302-E8800 ASSY-BACK MIRROR DOOR OUTSIDE (OP. AUSTRALIA)

96301-E8800 ASSY-BACK MIRROR DOOR OUTSIDE (OP. AUSTRALIA) replacing 96302-E8800 (can some confirm if these mirrors can be mounted on either side and just turn the mirror 180 degress to get it to work?

This is a very interesting thread, but to aviod confusion, lets get some Datsun/Nissan Part numbers with cooresponding photos to keep everything straight.

I'll start!

96301-E4600 USA Door Mirror for '70-73 240Z and early '74 260Z.

I am looking for right door mirror '72 240z. Does anybody have any leads?

Acording to everyone at Nissan who would answer my questions, Nissan NEVER made a right hand match for 96301-E4600.

Occasionally you will find a left hand mirror that has been manipulated(the mirror flag turned around), or has had the base ground to "make it work".

I am still working on a true mirror image of the left hand mirror for the right door. I am close as you can see in the earlier parts of this thread, but I am having trouble finding a company to economicly reproduce the stampings and supply the glass in a relatively small lot(500 pcs). The stalk is all-but a bead ringer(though I have atleast 6 different OEM stalk variations-parting line treatment).

I own HS30-00089 240z. It was bought and registered in QLD back in Dec 1970. It is still completely original and was sold with the chrome fender mirrors. These are not the bullet variety but look similar to the US door chrome mirror except that the stalks are angled left and right to suit the fender position. I have not seen them on any other zed car.
