boostedz Posted August 30, 2005 Share #13 Posted August 30, 2005 Please dont take this the wrong way, but MSA is not the last stop for Datsun Nissan parts. I looked at your car for year and model and did a search of only one parts store online.I found the heater control valve for only 36.99, your one molded hose for that valve 4.94 and the other for 6.18 shipped in only one day for a total of 48.11.Now to me that seems to be a hell of a lot better deal then MSA. You do also know that not all MSA parts belong to them and or Nissan as well. They have a huge mark up.You would be doing yourself a favor by searching first. Also for authentic Datsun/Nissan parts I would suggest Courtesy Nissan. Much more freindlier and faster shipping and all prices are listed and no outrageous mark up either.Good luck and like others said I would replace the two hoses just for piece of mind. You can find Courtesy Nissan here http://www.courtesyparts.com/
zerrari Posted February 5, 2006 Share #14 Posted February 5, 2006 My heater control valve is shot. I searched around and the only place I could find a new replacement one is MSA. They told me that their domestic source for HCV's was depleted and they now have to import them from Japan...for $260! I ordered one but they are on back order until April. I am also checking out sources for good used ones or trying to repair my broken one.Does anyone know of a source that still has them and is not charging an arm and a leg? boostedz Posted February 6, 2006 Share #15 Posted February 6, 2006 www.partsamerica.comVery inexpensive! Like I said before in my post above, 260 dollars is just rediculous.
zerrari Posted February 6, 2006 Share #16 Posted February 6, 2006 Thanks for the reply boostedz but they don't have it either. The part they have listed as a heater control valve (#74819) is a thermo control unit. At at $36 it's a great price but not the part I need.I need the piece that has a heavy copper wire connected near the water inlet valve that runs to another piece that has a coil(mounts by the heater core). I'll try and post a photo tonight.I would like nothing better than not paying $260 for this piece. Please let me know if you know of any other sources. boostedz Posted February 6, 2006 Share #17 Posted February 6, 2006 Its what I thought when you said heater control valve because that is what it does, contols the flow to the heater core so that you can get heat from the heater. Now that I know what your talking about, I would think that unless you absolutely need new, to get a used one form someone with a parts car.Less you want to spend that sort of money, for a new one, Im surprised that Courtesy Nissan didnt have one
zerrari Posted February 6, 2006 Share #18 Posted February 6, 2006 I've seen several different terms for this piece...doesn't make the search any easier.I've been looking for a good used one as well. Hopefully one will turn up.

jackboxxx Posted February 7, 2006 Share #20 Posted February 7, 2006 I'm not really sure if the hoses are originals or not. Im guessing so. The jackass who owned the car before me wasn't smart enough to use a fuel filter, so I'm pretty sure he never replaced any hoses either. Anyone know if these look original or not? Picture I guess I may try to find them at the auto parts store. I have a few days to decide if I want to order them from MSA.A few months back, when doing my engine swap, I replaced those, and got them from MSA as well, (after trying to install plain old heater hose..which wouldnt bend the way we needed, they just kinked...)The hoses I got from them were in datsun or datsun type plastic wrapers, but not braided...just plain black rubber. They did fit perfectly though, and now matched all my other hosing, not braided.
sblake01 Posted February 7, 2006 Share #21 Posted February 7, 2006 The one's I used were also not braided. I got them from a friend who has a Z repair shop but they were also in Nissan packaging as were the ones that go from the engine to the firewall. They are and upgrade from the originals and will supposedly last longer according to my friend. The longer I have to go before doing that job again, the happier I'll be!
