Posted August 29, 200519 yr comment_136165 hey guys im in a bit of a pinch i just recently warped the head on my 260 and in need of an answer i currently have an n42 head on that now needs to be shaved or should i just rebuilt the original e88 im looking for performance and dependability ive heard alot about the n42 heads and that the compression ratio is changed when put on i guess what im after. is it worth shaving the head and putting it back on or should i just use the e88?? :paranoid: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/17084-keep-it-or-trade-it/ Share on other sites
August 29, 200519 yr comment_136172 You can have the head surfaced, but at some point which I can't recall, you will also need to shim the cam towers to compensate for the head resurfacing.....IIRC, it has to do with the cam timing and chain tensioning. If you have a basically stock motor, either head will work just fine. The N42 has bigger valve than does the E88, by the way! August 30, 200519 yr comment_136204 removing over .030 will require shiming the towers. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/17084-keep-it-or-trade-it/#findComment-136204 Share on other sites

September 1, 200519 yr comment_136624 just thought I would tell you guys about this since you have a 260 and all. A few miles from my house there is a 260z in pretty bad shape, but i hear it has triple webers on it. and i think he wants to sell it pretty cheap! so if anyone wants these or the whole engine or head i can check for you.
