September 7, 200519 yr comment_137270 If we can get 240ztt to post a pic of a 2/2 he came across in Okinawa about ten years ago you would be stunned. The driver's side door was hanging from its hinges because most of the B-pillar was missing. The gas door lid looked like a sign on a glass window because you could see all the way through to the other side of the interior much like a cutway drawing! September 7, 200519 yr comment_137297 I have to practically fabricate a whole new chassis to replace my rust bucket. The frotn fenders, frame rails, floorboards, gas tank and straps, side rockers, rear bumper, chrome trim on the bumper, left headlight scope, and fender wells are rusted rather nicely, the frame rails the worst. You can reach under and grab one and get a handful of rust and crumbs, it's terrible. But, the only rust hole is a baseball-size one in the right front fender down by the rear of the tire. Right now it's patched with the handy-mans secret weapon- duct tape!Dave Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/17110-who-has-the-most-rusty-z/?&page=2#findComment-137297 Share on other sites

September 7, 200519 yr comment_137301 This is what the driver side floor looked like after sand blasting: Passenger side + firewall: Left rear corner: Rocker panel (front): Do I really need to say that the floors have been cut out and replacement floors and patches for the firewall will be made. New rocker panels waiting to be welded into place. New frame rails in the making as well. Jeez... :stupid: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/17110-who-has-the-most-rusty-z/?&page=2#findComment-137301 Share on other sites
September 7, 200519 yr comment_137346 zman--Did you inspect your z before you bought it? Even the slight glance underneath would've spotted the rust...also, it pays to test drive it your rig first--all the shimmy means something is up! Just kiddin man....I'd say get a magnet! :-) Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/17110-who-has-the-most-rusty-z/?&page=2#findComment-137346 Share on other sites
September 8, 200519 yr comment_137356 yah i know i wasnt to "familiar" with Z's a year ago. I didnt even belong to this site. I should have done much more researching befor ei just bought it, and it didnt run.All that rust was hidden well anyways. It sat perfect when i had it then i finally lifted it up and took off the fenders and got a good looki at it and realized how bad it was =( it wouldnt be a bad v8 rally car if i just modified the whole front end and stuff... The rear is solid it just needs work Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/17110-who-has-the-most-rusty-z/?&page=2#findComment-137356 Share on other sites
September 9, 200519 yr comment_137576 This was taken in southern Nago in Okinawa Japan in 1998 as I was driving around. IMHO, this is the worst example of a Z that has been let go... Sorry for the bad quality but it was a scanned 35mm picture.
