10th anniversary 280z

Crush it it's a ahhh 280ZZXX pieces of crap (not meaning anything to who I could offend) I for one hate them. Nice paint job but I don't know if I could go with the gold.

I think you're missing the point here. I'm not really a ZX fan either but a 25 year old car of any make with mileage this low is certainly of interest. And as far as the paint job well that's the factory paint job for that car. They also make a red and black 10 anniversary ZX which had a very low production number. I think that there were only 500 red/black versions. I would find a 1980 Hyundai (if such a thing existed) in this condition and mileage interesting but I wouldn't buy it. Ease up on the hatin'!

zhead240, I once owned a Puch Maxi Sport moped.

The idiot who bought this car must have been on drugs or an eccentric millionaire with nothing better to do with his money. Come on! A 25 year old car with 35 miles on it? This thing's a museum piece looking for a museum. Drive it? Forget it! What? With all the rubber pieces deteriorated to the point of needing replacement would you drive it? Rubber deteriorates . . . period! How much engine time has it got? You gotta run the engine to keep it in running order or it will seize. We have cars in Japan that have low mileage that are driven every day and spend hours in the traffic jams. That equals extra wear and tear on the engine as we all know that idling is hardest on the motor. I say that this thing is an expensive restoration project for anyone who wants to drive it or an expensive piece of art that's too big to fit in the house.

We have another copy the same car with only 50 miles in our classifieds for $55,000.00

Buying a car not to drive is only done for investment speculation.

And I've gotta say there were better investments when these cars were bought.

in 1980 interest rates were at an all time high, at the rates available then money would double every seven years. If these cars were not bought with cash, the owners have lost money. At an MSRP of 14,300 he could have had 28,600 in only seven years.

I bought a house in 1992, for 62,000, today that same house is valued at $170700(ok, it has a new roof and has been painted) in the tax acessment(I could get more) so in 13 years that probably better than trippled ion value.

I don't forsee the car in our classifieds selling for 55K, (there again, I am suprised that the car(with even lower mileage) on ebay got so close to $30k) considering the only difference between it and the normal 1980 280ZX is paint, emblems(stickers and a plaque) and headlight washers.

What I dont understand is all the hatred toward the 280ZX, after all it is part of the Datsun family and is a well respected racer to its own. Just think about the Electramotive racer from Devendorf. pushing incredible amounts of hp and winning every year!

Now on another side I know that people will say well its a heavy overwieght pig of a car, not really concidering that a 280zx weighs in about the same as a 280z and is more aerodynamic, more of a solid car and can handle more horsed thrown into its chassis.

Personally I prefer the looks of the S30 model cars, but dont put down something that is an evolution of the Z and is well basically more capable.

More capable? Man, that is just wrong...would you defend the Mustang II as well? heh.

So is ball and joint steering more capable than rack and pinion? I think the change in steering basically sums up what direction Nissan was going with the 79 280zx.

"......to someone." But IMO not to very many people. (No disrespect intended to you, sir.)

I'd polish it and use it a paper weight, or put it in the back yard (wouldn't want the neighbors to know I bought it) and plant flowers in it. I can think of many better places to invest 28 thousand.

That is what they did for some strange reason and it is only on the 79 ZX. More capable, yes it is, it is a refinement, it does have a stronger chassis, and is capable of accepting more power.

Like I said I am a fan of the S30, but you just cannot argue numbers no matter how much you like the S30 and or dislike the S130.

the unique thing about this car is the odometer- 35 miles.look at the trip mileage, this guy put all the miles on going to the dealer to sell it.who buys a new car and doesn't drive it, puts it in storeage and sells it 25 years later? he must be an eccentric.i think it highly unlikely you'll ever see another 25 year old car with less than 35 miles on it. what i'd like to know is,would putting miles on this car devalue it?

U know it could be a TMU car. Someone should run a carfax on it. At least i hope the buyer did. Still a nice clean mint condition car thou.

i wasnt around when the 280zx was born, but in 1979, did people actually find that car attractive? no one today will admit that they prefer the 280zx body style to the original 70-78. were things different back then? datsun didnt realize that they were making a horrible mistake with the new design or what...
