74 260 bumpers suck

I own a early 74 260 .Im in the final stages of a almost complete restoration not quite frame up but close.I want to keep the car as stock as possible "done good so far".But now im down to the bumpers ,emblems and such. The problem is the finding the rubber packing that goes between the bumpers and the body I need the front and back left and right ,centers good .I have looked the usual sources msa ,vb, zedd, ebay no luck.Im thinking that these are hard to find with the short production of the early bumpers with the dampers.Does anybody have any good ideas on how to deal with this problem i know somebody out there has run into this before.Im open to any ideas thinking of tryng to make something out of rubber or sheet metal to fill voids .Also i have read some posts about letting the oil out of the shocks To bring the bumpers closer to the body.Dont know if it is a good idea or not i kind of like the idea of the added protection the dampers provide. I've spent alot of time on the body work .It would kill me if someone hit me @ 5 miles per hour and trashed my 1/4 panel.

Any help at all would be GREAT. thanks for looking. Thanks alot if you reply MIKE
