Man, you've got one of the best tracks in the USA in your own backyard. Road Atlanta in Gainsville. Call them up, get a track schedule, and make some calls to the organizations that run there. Hope you get to run there. I towed 3000 miles to race there. Fast track, good fun!

What type of racing?

Drag racing:

Atlanta Dragway, Commerce. Right off I-85 behind the outlet malls. Just about every friday is fast fridays, a test n tune. Show up by 530. gates open at 6, but it gets real crowded by 8. You can get several runs in if you are early though. www.atlantadragway.com

Silver Dollar Raceway: Down by Macon, but a faster track

I think there is an 1/8th mile strip out near Dallas

Road:

Road Atlanta, Braselton. Pricy for track days, but awesome track.

Little Talladega (TGPR). Lots of clubs use this track outside of birmingham. 1.3 mile road course. No obstacles, lots of runoff, perfect for first timers, and usually in the 100-200 price range.

Autocross:

SCCA

Go to this site, and click on driving school. The Ga. Z club is running an event with them on Oct. 9th at little dega. The Z club side is full, but I think the other part may still have slots open. At least on the corvette forum, he posted he still had 5 spots the other day.
