72 Zs with AC

I will try to post a picture within a few days. The switch that turns on my A/C is actually a thermostat. It is a round knob that turns. When it "clicks", the A/C turns on or off. I have never posted a picture so it may take me a little time to do so.

Great shot! Good looking engine compartment. That's definately a York (sometimes called Yorx) compressor based add on system. How does it work? What refrigerant are you running?

First of all - DougN you have a great looking Z! Here are some pictures of the A/C on my 72Z. I also have a picture of the warranty from Factory Air. Don't look at the dirt/dust because I don't have much time to keep my Z clean. Hope the pics work because I've never done this.

Thanks, bg240. The dirt doesn't matter to me. I'm just trying to learn all I can about these systems. Interesting marketing ploy for a company that installs aftermarket air to call their company 'Factoy Air Conditioning Corp'. I looked them up. They're still in business.

Mine seems to be pretty common... I've seen a few of the samae ones.

Actually, yours is a little different in that it has a Sankyo/Sanden compressor as opposed to the upright style York compressor. And it apears to have machine crimped hoses instead of the barrier style w/clamps. Are all four hoses the screw on flare fitting type? Makes it look more like a factory air setup even though it isn't.

looks like "dealer installed" AC..

whats really interesting is my Radiator in that

car has a FoMoCo stamp on it, but it looks like

it was made for the car. Fits and mounts just like

stock. Guess its possible they used Mustang or some

other Ford OE radiator for AC cars maybe to keep

from running warm or overheating.

Interesting... mine is a '73 with dealer installed air. The compressor, after studying this thread, appears to be un upright York unit. Here's the odd thing; although it didnt have a FoMoCo stamp or marking, it did have "Fairmont" painted onto it - suggesting to me that it was a used unit pulled from a Ford Fairmont. I've only had the car for a few months, the system was/is not working as I bought it from the PO, but I havent gotten around to seeing what it needs yet.
