71datsunZ Posted September 12, 2005 Share #2 Posted September 12, 2005 nice =)... my z is getting restored and I cant wait. Everything is solid except for the usual floor pans and battery tray stuff. So I know how you feel right now. My z is also a cali car and the emmissions stuff was taken off. Are cali cars more valuable than others or not really? BTW is www.ultimatez.com a good source? I found some stuff there that I want to order but I wanted to check first.
pontiacguy Posted September 12, 2005 Author Share #3 Posted September 12, 2005 Well -- I work in a body shop---cant say calif cars are worth more $ but -but it costs a lot of $$ to cut and weld rust repair is a bitch I live in newengland -hey all cars rust not just Z's so hey even a calif can can be rusty this one was solid -oh it has dings and small dents its not perfect-but super solid I was looking for a solid driver -this is it -probably looked at 25 -30 Z's over the years none as solid as this and yea I cant wait to drive this -just waiting for my plate --
71datsunZ Posted September 12, 2005 Share #4 Posted September 12, 2005 well actually my dad was from new england and we are in Jersey now... so the z spent most of its time on the east coast. But there were different things for the cali zs due to emissions. Thats why I was wondering if it was worth more
pontiacguy Posted September 13, 2005 Author Share #5 Posted September 13, 2005 No I dont think they added any extra emmissions for calif. from what ive seen they just made it work for all of the usa at that time -in other words -all cars would pass calif emissions and every other state calif cars arnt worht any more than texas cars or N.J cars rust free is rust free -hey im curious tell me more about your car in restoration -Id love to here about it ---71datsunZ

pontiacguy Posted September 13, 2005 Author Share #7 Posted September 13, 2005 Oh well the good thing (or bad I guess ) is yep it has the flat tops runs great though so-if it starts to run like $^!# ill change em out -the good part is its very original-- flat tops and even the factory am/fm -ect in other words not screwed with thats a good thing and yes I cant wait to drive it -and bear in mind i own 2 68 firebirds and one is a factory ramair car --

71datsunZ Posted September 13, 2005 Share #10 Posted September 13, 2005 left my house yesterday and is getting the engine, tranny, exhaust, and lines taken out. Then going to sandblaster / media blaster. After that, its going to the body shop. Then im reassembling the rest and then im a very happy guy =). Thinking about getting the exhaust upgraded with the headers and either 2 or 2.5 inch exhaust with ansa tips, better air cleaners, possibly a 4.11 r200 diff. I had my carbs rebuilt. Then Im getting some sound stuff... like a sub sunk into the wheel well. Racing seats with harnesses so im held in good, dynomatting the interior, aftermarket steering wheel and shift knob, front lip and rear spoiler. Im putting foglights behind the grill. Thinking about going with supra gunmetal for the color but a deep yellow has been on my mind. I think the gunmetal would look meaner and I wouldnt get tired of it.
