78 280zcar Posted September 16, 2005 Share #1 Posted September 16, 2005 I just got my rebuilt N-47 head and I need to adjust the valves before I put it on, does anyone know how to adjust them with out the head being on so I can get a good startup when I start the car. Thanks
Ed Posted September 16, 2005 Share #2 Posted September 16, 2005 Wait until the head is on the block. Do it right the first time.

Ed Posted September 16, 2005 Share #4 Posted September 16, 2005 Don't get me wrong. You can set the valves to where they are close to correct with the head off the block. But you will have to adjust them again once the head has been installed. So instead of doing it twice just install the head and do it right the first time. 78 280zcar Posted September 17, 2005 Author Share #5 Posted September 17, 2005 Thats true I dont want to adjust it twice, thanks guys. Is there someone on this site that would happen to have a 78 280z harmonic balancer they would sell me. I bought one for a 240z but the timing marks are in the wrong spot, so now I am selling it back on ebay. The guy wrote on there they are a good upgrade for the 280z but you have to change the timing cover on the 280 to a 240z cover. Please let me know and thanks
