Posted September 22, 200519 yr comment_139067 i am having trouble replacing my speedo cable for my 1970. I know the speedo started at 20 for 1970, but is there a difference between the 70 and 71 cable. I ordered a new one from VicBritish and the one they sent had different ends. Can someone help me with this? My old one is the one on the inside Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/17360-speedocable/ Share on other sites
September 27, 200519 yr comment_139594 As far as I know, the one on the inside of this photo with the wire spring wrapped around the end which "plugs" into the transmission is correct and should be original for your 240-Z. September 27, 200519 yr comment_139631 Had the same issue with a cable from VB. Besides it was a POS. Try spinning the cable inside the casing. It binds.I bought one from the good ole local Nissan dealer. Spendy ($85), but the quality difference is remarkable. This was a real case of getting what you pay for.Whatever you do, pull out the cable and grease it up good before you install. September 27, 200519 yr comment_139693 Get the correct part number and try http://www.nismoparts.com. They pull from several Nissan dealers. I got a a/c expansion valve for a 1979 810 from them when no one else could find it. If anyone can get it, they can.EDIT: The part number for a 70 240Z speedo cable according to the a customer service rep at nismo is B5050-N4701 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/17360-speedocable/#findComment-139693 Share on other sites

I think it came from the Sac. warehouse. You should be abke to have your dealer get it. It only took a few days. If you want my dealer info, PM me. These parts guys are the best. September 28, 200519 yr comment_139772 Try Courtesy Nissan. They bend over backwards to help the Z car community, and they will ship the part to you. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/17360-speedocable/#findComment-139772 Share on other sites
