Got my ride back from the mechanic this weekend....WOW what a difference LOL . All of you who made the positive comments about this combo were right on...For my brisk daily driving purposes this combo is fine. The wheels/tires tuck in nicely in the arches with enough room....total drop was about 1". Sweeper exit/entrance ramps are really smooth now and the tracking is superb, I have to remember to use my brakes...I'll post a pic...now off to paint!

Joe, what size tires/rims do you run?

Hey Tom,

I'm running Firestone Firehawk 205/60 15s on Riken RTX 15x7s...gotta say this is the best this car has handled for me...now I'm looking for any excuse to take 'er for a run...

The most dramatic change is how the strut inserts really damp the rebound of the springs...with my old setup (Contour coils/KYB gas strut inserts) the springs would on occasion overpower the struts and cause a little skipping. Expansion seams are now not jarring at all, there's a little blip, then the suspension smooths out. It also seems to handle road undulations much nicer, a slight bounce then it evens out...I think my old setup was perfect for autocrossing, it was really flat in the turns but just harsh for daily driving...this was a great mod for me and worth the wait...

Joe, do you think a 215/50R15 on the same rim would fit and not rub the springs. I would love to use this kit and this is the tire size I would like. I have 205's now but are oooold and cracked, getting a deal from a customer on 215's. Thanks

Hey Tom,

Funny you mention this, thanks to all this site, I've been considering a different tire sizing along your thoughts for my next set of tires. I'm no wheel/tire expert but this thread has more specific info about 15x7 wheel/tire combos...

Check out zguitar71's post...since you're only going 215/50 you should be within a safe margin without rubbing when turning. With the 50 aspect/ratio you'll lose appr. another 3/4" of tire diameter (if I did my math right)...with the ProKits I have about 1" of room left between the top of the tire and the edge of the wheelwell arch...you might get some bottoming out on bigger dips, but maybe someone else here can confirm...check through the wheels/tire forum to verify for yourself or consult your wheel/tire guy before you buy...good luck with it!

As long as the offset of the wheel is at or near 0 you should be able to run a 225/50/15. The 215 might be a little small in diameter, your overall gearing will be higher causing increased rpm's on the highway but around town the higher gearing is nice for zipping of the line and stuff. I have 205/60/14's right now which are 23.7" in diameter and I cruse at 80 with a 3.9 rear end and an 83 5 speed at around 3750 RPM. One day when I have $ I would like to get some 15x7's (Volk TE37) with 225/50's.

Thanks guys will check, Z pal down the street brought his new panasports over tonite with the 215/50r15s on them. He and I are getting the good deal on the tires. I know, I know...I will do my home work on the rims and tires through the threads. I don't get the numbers on the back of the rims though. I have 205's(15's) on there now and I can't get my finger between the base of the front spring and the tire. His 215's have plenty of room, but I can't figure out his offset number. He has a 05 with a hash mark looking thing beside it and also an 06 with the hash mark beside it. Which one applies?? By the way the panasports look great!! Now I want new rims,,,, Geesh Hey didn't mean to hijack the thread, it does relate, I want to use the suspension kit !!!!
