Hand Brake Cable Clips

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, just before dinner tried to get the clips off that hold the hand brake cable to the mounts under the trans tunnel. Man, mine won't move. They seem to be like the clips that hold the brake/clutch lines to their mounts. Should just slip off right? What am I missing? Never fails, if it is the last nut, screw, clip, etc, it will be the BI@#$. And I can't get any tools on it, tried all I 've got. Thanks in advance

Hi Tom,

I used vice-grips to remove them from my car when I rebuilt the rear suspension. I clamped the vice-grips to the clip where it bends. I was then able to wiggle the clip and pull it out. You're right, they are like the brake/clutch line clips, only smaller & thicker.

Thanks Kenny, I got the ones at the rear wheels with vice grips and a BFH with a punch, just can't get a good grip on the ones under the tunnel, thanks for the support. Just want to get it all out, think I am going to buy Corgans rotisserie but don't have it yet, still laying on my back!!! They've got some rust on them, probably shoot some break loose in there and let it soak.

NCZ,

I had a bit of trouble taking one of those clips off on mine, just not much room to work. I tried using the 90 degree tab, pulling on that, but that broke. I got it out by using an old srewdriver to lever the tops (prongs) down and once moved it enough, placed the screwdriver in the base of the prongs when that came into view from around the cable end.
