Rain gutter drip gaurd trim...

Call it what you want but I'm pretty sure it's called the drip gaurd. I removed the driver's side and have yet to remove the passenger side. When I reomved the driver's side I had to work it off from one end to the other by gently rolling it up and down and pulling it out at the same time. There are a few small metal clips that held it on the edge of the roof lip and they broke when I removed the trim. I need to take off the other side but I don't want to break the clips. Are these clips still available to put the trim back on or is there an alternate way to secure the gaurd trim back on. I really don't want to load it up with epoxy or some kind of 'glue' but if that is the only way to go then I guess that'll have to do.

I will have to look in my How to Restore your Datsun Z-car book and see what it says to do. I am pretty sure you could find some clips that are the same at ACE or Lowes. Get back with you soon.

Ok, in the book, Wick Humble says:

"Start loosening drip trim with screwdriver. Roll trim up and away from metal lip on roof, don't bend it." Then he goes on to say: "Gradually work trim forward, then roll off A-pillar. It makes one wonder how it stayed on so long."

He says nothing about clips. I might have to check on my Z and see what is there. I hope I helped in some small way. Good luck on the rebuild.

well, you are screwed. the clips are specific for that application, and they dont make them anymore. i checked lots of dealers, and thats a no go.

you are going to have to find new trim with the clips still in place.

The tail ends of my hrome strips seem to be turned out. Is that normal, or should it keep the same orientation for the whole length? How could I twist the trip to get it to like up nice? Isathere a clip on the back end that broke maybe?

I think there are three clips that hold it on. I'm going to take off the passenger side this weekend. I'm going to spray it with some penetrating fluid and hope to save the clips. I'll let you know where they are under the gaurd. Wish me luck.

I took mine off and I didnt see any clips
