I have Euro springs that are ten years old with one year old Tokico struts and the tires are starting to rub? Is it time to replace the springs? if so what should I use for a daily driver?

If the tires were not rubbing before and they are not a new tires size (larger) then I would suspect the springs are saggy. 10 years could be many life times for a set of spring or they could be like new it all depends on how the car is driven. If it is driven a lot or on bumpy roads or hard then they could be shot. What size tires do you have?

I have Arizona Zcar springs (http://www.arizonazcar.com/springs.html) and really like them for the street and they are a good match for the Tokico struts. They are 200 in. lbs. rear and 180 in. lbs. for the fronts, so they are stiffer than the euro springs but not too stiff for the street (IMO). They will lower the car about 1" though.

The tire size i'm running is 215 60 14 with the Euro springs. I understand the Euro springs are no longer made, so I'm considering a new spring, but I don't want it slammed to ground for a rough ride. Any suggestions?

Eibach progressive rate springs are nice I hear. They have a soft ride at normal driving, and get stiffer the more you push it. They are expensive though. I have Suspension Tech springs on mine. They are stiffer than the originals, and lower my car aout an inch. That is LOW for a 240. I have already pulled one exhaust sytem off on a manhole cover. I think I may get the eibach springs for next summer though. I don't think they lower the 240's any. Also the Arizona Z car springs don't lower the 240's, but will lower the 280's.

Thanks to Bryan's tireless efforts, we had the US Spec. Stock Springs reproduced in limited quantity. If you call David House at Courtesy, tell him you are a member of either the Internet Z Car Club (IZCC) or the Classic Z Car Club - you will get the special pricing we worked out for our members.

Retail on the Internet will be $259.95 for a complete set of four springs (very very reasonable by todays standards), and the club price will be $229.95 plus shipping (a bargain!). This is actually just a "service" done as a favor for us by Courtesy Parts... and another reason we should perfer to give them all our business.

If you think you want a new set of Stock Springs - I would suggest that you buy them now. As I said, the quantity we had produced is limited. (only 20 sets available.. and most likely less than that now). Grab them and stick them on the shelf for later if your not ready to swap out your tired old springs yet.

We are working on having the Euro Spec. Stage I Springs reproduced next - hope to have them available in limited quantity just after the first of the year.

These springs are produced my a major OEM to the US car manufacturers, right here in the USA. They are shot peened for stress relief, sprayed with the semigloss black and dabbed with the correct color paint dabs.. Each Set consists of One Right Front, One Left Front and Two Rears - sorry but sold only as complete sets.

I have the Tokico Illuminas and springs - lowers the car about the same as the ST springs I replaced. The ride is very tolerable on settings 1 or 2 for street driving (our roads are not the best here!) and the higher settings on the Illuminas is great for performance handling.

Thanks Carl for the information and I ordered the springs today from Courtesy Nissan !!!! Any recommendations for struts that would compliment these springs ??? And could you direct me to the best place to order the struts !!!!!!

I now have a set of NOS Nissan Euro Spec. Stage I Springs, as listed in

the older Datsun/Nissan Competition Parts Catalogs. These were just

slightly stiffer than the US Spec. OEM springs and were a very

popular upgrade to the 240-Z's suspension, without resulting in a

significantly lowered car and a harsh ride.

I am putting together a group purchase in order to get this NOS set

Reproduced, as they have been NLA from Nissan for several years now.

This will be a very limited production quantity, they will be

manufactured by a US manufacturer, shoot peened for stress relief,

painted black and marked with the correct color paint dabs (just as

the originals were). All spec.'s will be the same as the originals..

free length, installed height, and spring rates etc.

Pricing will be very reasonable for the Group Purchase, so if you are

interested in ordering set let me know now, and I'll add your name to

the Group along with the quantity of sets you wish to pre-order.

You will pay for them, only after they are manufactured and ready to

ship... and you will know ahead of time what the final pricing will

I do not know of a retail source for either of the spring sets. You might find a set on E-Bay, or buy them from someone like me - that has a few sets.

We have learned a lot since 2005.

First - the Euro Spec Springs combined with modern Gas Pressure Shocks - will not lower your 240Z - the combination will RAISE the ride height of the car - in some cases by as much as 1 1/2 to 2+ inches! To get the rid height back close to original - most guys had to cut 2 to 2 1/2 coils off the springs.

The same is true for the Stock Springs combined with modern gas pressure shocks. Although fewer coils had to be removed. These newer gas pressure shocks have significantly more gas pressure than they did 20 years ago. So with the upward force they have - they unload some of the normal pre-load exerted by the corner weight of the 240Z's {around 650 lbs}.

I still have the NOS Euro Spec. Stage I springs that we used for the model from which to reproduce them. I'd sell them for $400.00 plus $50.00 for packing and shipping anywhere in the US.

I also still have a couple of sets of the "Stock" Reproduction Springs. I'd sell them for $279.00 plus $40.00 shipping and handling anywhere in the US.

How do you think your Euro Spec Stage I springs would work on a 240 with a set of NOS Bilstein p30-061 and p30-062 strut inserts?

Carl, same question as above, but for the Interpart Muhlhollands. I got a set a couple years ago as part of the refresh on my silver Z.
