hey alfadog, do suncorp metway service victoria? I will have my 260 on the road soon and i'm starting to investigate insurance, $426 sounds pretty good, I'm 18 and the zed is my first car so I think I'll ahve to look around a fair bit for a deal.

I guess they would... it's $426 for a 240z being at "market value" - which to them means $5000. My car is worth more than that though but to change my plan I need to get one of their mechanics to look at it to determine what they think its worth. Obviously, I'll have to pay more when I get around to doing that...

Its a surprising deal really - I guess its so low because its a classic car.

I tried to insure my 240 yesterday and no one would insure it fully comp because of its age. I tried them all AAMI, Allianz, QBE, GIO, NRMA and (yes alfa) SunCorp Metway who said they would if it was in Queensland but not in NSW. I'm still waiting to hear from Shannons but they do limited km and I'm not too keen about that.

have you tried an insurance broker

I just got a quote back from Shannons (owned by Sun Alliance in the UK I think) who will insure the new 240 fully comp. agreed value AUS$5,000 with a limited usage of 8,000 km (should be fine for me) for the grand sum of AUS$224.88. That's AUS$30 cheaper than AAMI wanted to insure it third party property damage!

There is a basic excess of AUS$400 (AAMI's was AUS$450) and I am the only permitted driver. I can live with that.
