PeteZ Racing Posted October 7, 2005 Share #1 Posted October 7, 2005 Z Gang, After spending many months researching different toy haulers our choice was the 2005 Fleetwood 30' triple axle 300FS GearBox trailer to haul our Z in. Our Z is lowered so a low ramp angle was very important for clearance. 16’ of clearance from the rear tailgate to the permanently mounted cabinet plenty of room for a 240. With the triple axle 240 weights is no problem. We have 14’ of living area in the GearBox even when the car is in. The back cargo area is not a waste when the car is out, lots of upper cabinets, fold down couches (2 double beds) and two motor controlled queen size beds fills the area nicely for more sleeping area if needed. Other cool things: the front sleeper is a queen size bed, the bath has a tub, the kitchen has a good size frig/stove/oven/microwave, satellite TV, built in walkie talkies, nice stereo/inside and out, plenty of outdoor lighting, two built in fuel tanks for 38 gallons of gas, outdoor BBQ/shower, built in air compressor, great heating and AC, 120 gallons fresh water and more. We took our Z to the MSA show this year and we had no problems hauling 1100 miles to get there. Fully loaded car/wheels/tools total weight 13,825Lbs. Tow vehicle 2003 Ford Excursion 6.0 v8 turbo diesel with Diablo Sport programmer, 4" mandrel exhaust, 433H.P. 658Lbs Torque, trany cooler, airbags and gauges, leather and DVD for kids. I highly recommend the 6.0 turbo diesel, weighting in @7725Lbs, and pulling our trailer (53’ total length) we can climb any mountain pass (Colorado) at the speed limit. Our Z Mods; 1970 240 Z Wilwood brakes front 15" grey pads, Wilwood brake proportioning valve, rear modified drums with Kevlar Carbon shoes, R200 rear diff with Phantom grip limited slip 3:90 gears, all new/larger drive line and haft shafts with Spencer yokes and brute force u-joints,Drive shaft loops,78 Z Nissan 5 speed with short throw shifter, ACT clutch six pad disc, Race seats, Grant steering wheel, Wink mirror, Sequential shift light, Contour springs and struts, very stiff, strut tower braces, race seats, roll bar 4 point, all Autometer procomp gages, (12) Panasport 15x7 wheels (4) 225x50xZR15 G force(street), (2) 225x50x15 G Force drag radials, (4) Ecsta 225x50x15 Kuhmo victor racers, (2) Ecsta 225x45x15 Kuhmo victor racers, Engine area: bored & stroked, 1983 2.8 L block, 1973 240Z Rods race prepped, 1982 Diesel Maxima crank, Ross racing pistons & rings 89MM ceramic coated, displacement 3.1 L, internal balanced, P-90 fully ported head with larger exhaust valves & ceramic coated combustion chamber and runners, Stainless tulip stem swirl polished valves, race springs and Malvern racing custom grind cam, 1MM metal head gasket, ARP studs and bolts throughout, Extrude honed intake manifold, RC 550CC injectors, Custom fuel rail,Essex fuel pump and step rate pressure regulator 55 P.S.I. @ idle, 1/2" fuel line from tank forward and return 3/8", crank trigger Electromotive engine management system, GM single post 100 Amp Alternator, Gel battery, 83 280 ZX radiator with 2 electric fans, my(Pete'Z Racing) custom stainless turbo header, Garrett GT 35R water cooled metal roller bearing 70-1 turbo .82AR, Tial 46mm waste-gate, H.K.S. electronic boost controller, My 3" mandrel stainless downpipes, 3" mandrel exhaust with 3" stainless flex, straight through muffler to rear, My 2.5" intercooling plumbing with Greddy "R" blow off valve, Spearco intercooler, 70MM throttle body, most everything heat wrapped. Probably the last thing would be a plain looking car, door dinged, faded, March of 1970 body with nothing to show what it has. This is my daily driver/race car and many fast cars have been taken. This combination; Dyno 366H.P. 418 Ft Torque @ 14 P.S.I. boost on 90 octane!, weight 2350 pounds. Sorry to run on like that. A few pictures are of the one piece 304 stainless mandrel bent turbo downpipes I make, for stock Z car turbo systems. Better flow more horsepower. The turbo downpipe will fit. hls30.com Posted October 8, 2005 Share #6 Posted October 8, 2005 You said "My 3" mandrel stainless downpipes, 3" mandrel exhaust with 3" stainless flex..."MSA ad says: "The tube is 2.5" in diameter" I want a 3" flange, and have some ideas on a different bend and insulation on and in the down pipe...Not that what you have isn't clearly superior to the factory elbow!A diferent turbo header sounds interesting, been tossing some ideaz on that one too!WillWill
PeteZ Racing Posted October 9, 2005 Author Share #7 Posted October 9, 2005 Will,The Msa is a 2.5". I don't think you could run a 3" off the stock turbo. The bolt pattern and area where the flange needs to seal is small. I have 3" flanges in stainless for the Garrett Gt35-R. I should have a turbo header ready for sale by year end.Let me know how I can help with any questions you have.Pete
