New Gunmetal Panasports

I finally gave up on finding performance rubber to fit 14" rims and upgraded to 16x7 panasports. Here's a picture if any of you are considering it. I couldn't find any good shots prior to placing the order so I was a bit nervous. In the end they turned out more grey than I expected but I'm still happy.

Anyone need a set of Enki 92 14x7 rims? :)

Are you running stock suspension?

Any rubbing issues?

What size tires did you end up getting?

The original owner said he had switched to aftermarket springs (this was almost 20 years ago) but they feel stock, so I'd say my suspension is stock except for the larger anti-roll bars.

So far no rubbing, but if I hit a big enough bump the rear fender lip is going to rub on the outer edge of the tire. If it becomes an issue I'll either roll the fender lip or cut it.

I'm running 225/50-16 Yokohama ES100s. I'd say that for their size they are a bit on the skinny side which works to my advantage in this case. Their maximum width is virtually the same as it was for the smaller tires I replaced (215/60-14 Goodyear Eagle GTII).

the only thing that bothers me is the tires look too modern as well as the mirrors .. but its all good.

Actually I agree with you. I really liked my previous wheels (Enki 92 w/black centers) as they looked more "period correct" to me. I think these are really beautiful wheels, but they would look better on a more modern car.

Interestingly, now the rear looks a bit higher than the front although you can't see it in the pictures. I think it's just an illusion as it looked low in the rear with the previous wheels/tires.

It's easy to obsess on this. Much better to get in it and drive - then I don't worry about what they look like because I can't see them :)

Quick question--if you were after performance tires, what made you get these instead of the 15x7 konig rewinds?

I debated for a while on that one since I liked the look of the Konigs and they were half the price. The only 15" performance tires I liked were the Yokohama ES100 and I was worried that when I need to replace tires the next time there may not be anything available. Then I'd be right where I am now.

The 16" size is quite popular and there are so many choices I think there will be a good selection available for many years.
