They look real nice! Now I know exactly how they'd look on my car :-) FYI we have the same exhaust tip LOL

I've told my wife before that if I ever get new wheels for my Z (or get really really really tired of cleaning of my current wheels) that I'd get something like your new wheels.

Also an FYI for anybody looking for a "performance" 14" tire: Sumitomo makes a decent tire in the stock/OEM size. I bought a set for my stock wheels before I bought my current wheels. I think they were GTZ's er something, they were quiet, stuck like glue and were summer-only (not all-season). Plus they were only like $40 a piece :-)

I know this post is dated but I'm debating tire sizes for the 16 x 7 Rewinds.

MSA says the max tire size is a 205/55-16 but I see that 240ZMan was able to run 225/50-16s on his Panasports.

I will eventually be upgrading to Eibach progressive rate springs and Tokico HPs.

I'm not opposed to having to roll my fenders but just want to avoid that extra expense.

Thoughts?

Larry, on a 240Z you may need to watch for clearance while turning at the front valance under the turn signal. Lowering the car will make that worse, but if you have an air dam instead of the stock valance parts you may be OK. Not a definitive answer, but the best I can do with out test fitting.

FWIW, it seems that some early Zs have the issues Arne mentions with rubbing in front. In my case (73 with stock valence) I have no issues. But I've seen enough who do with the same size wheels and tires to know that it's not an isolated issue.

On the rears, after installing tokico springs and struts (illuminas) I eventually did cut the rear fenders. I had a very occasional rub in the rear with the 215/60-14 tires, and the 225/50-16 rubbed often enough after lowering that I had to do something. But like the front, it seems that others have run the same size and suspension without rubbing, so you probably won't know for sure until you try it on your car.

Edit: FYI, I'm now running Kumho MX tires which are a little wider than the ES100s were.

With stock suspension, '73s sit slightly higher than earlier 240Zs, due to the beginnings of the bumper height regulations. All 240Zs sit higher than original when gas shocks are used with stock springs. Can make a difference.
