I'm in the process of refreshing my 71 240z. Currently my Z is running 14x7 wheels with P215/60R14 tires that rub over road irregularities. I'm running Tokico springs with Illumina struts.

So, I'm considering Konig Rewinds (14x7) what tire combination would eliminate the rubbing?

Wow I have had that size as well as 225/60r14 that didn't rub, I would consider a 205/65r14 , can you tell where they are rubbing?

They are rubbing right on the edge of the wheel well opening...or on the outer edge of the tire. I was thinking of having the wheel well lips "rolled" to see if that eliminates the problem but the tires are all used up anyway so I wanted to discover all options first.

I was gonna suggest just that, having then rolled, and you are running the blue spring setup correct ? I am running 225/50r15 on my 71 <hyashi 7 inch wheels>and what was on there was the 225/60r14 < on libres I think 7's as well> and I replaced my spring setup with the same as yours. I don't drive the car much so and when i do its babied to say the least , but 215 in the 60 series seems to be hard to find as most 14 inch tires are. Try a 215/65 or get them rolled . Here is a link to a calculator that might help you .

Run a 205 / 50 / 15 on my Z without any probs at all, stock springs.

May however go to a 16 in rim and change the springs to eliminate the large gap between the top of the qtrs / fdrs and the top of the tire. Depends on what my son does to his 99 Mits Eclipse , he may give me his 16 in , OZ Formula 1 wheels.

Back in the day, when I sold tires and wheels for a living in the late '70s and early '80s, I sold lots of sets of 215/60 and 225/60-14s on 14x7 wheels for Z cars. I don't recall many having any rubbing issues. I'm wondering what offset your current 14x7s have?

With a 0 offset you can run up to a 225 with out rubbing. Most 14x7 I have seen are -9 to -12 offset (I have -2 14x7 slotted mags). With the negative offset you cannot run as wide tire as the 0 offset. The konig's are -9 offset so larger than a 205 will probably rub and the 205 will be close. Get the 15x7 rewinds, they are a 0 offset, have a better tire selection and you can run a 225/50 with out rubbing or rolling the fenders.
