Greetings, I am new to the "Club" but have been a Z owner for 11 years. I live in Abita Springs, Louisiana (45 miles north of New Orleans). Only 1 of those 11 years, i actually drove my car.

The saga involved 2 crooked restoration shops; a '71 automatic I bought from my sister; a '72 supposedly restored & slightly modified that was actually a bondo bucket; and a very slow, but apparently honest bodyman that has both my cars in New Orleans. When i called him after Katrina hit, he said "Oh, Troy, the guy who owns 2 Japanese submarines :sick: .

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the 1982 ZX rust bucket with solid engine and tranny I bought and took delivery of 2 days before the storm hit. Oops, did I also mention that this seemingly honest bodyman has no insurance? Do I ever learn

So, it looks like I'll be cutting losses, probably look for a pristine O.G. 240 or excellent resto. Part out what ever is left of the '71,'72 & '82, keep the drive train out of the '82 for future use.

I do have lots of good stuff, interior, wheels that were at my house and did not flood, maybe an engine (that'll need a rebuild since it was under water).

Anyone out there know Curtis Heffernan? He's got a 907 green available with ZG flairs and JDM fairlady fluff. Looks nice in the photos. If you have seen the car, i would appreciate input.

I have seen the car in person, and I thought it was quite nice. I talked with Curtis and he knew what he was talking about. However, I am very surprized that he is selling the car, especially with all of the JDM parts. If there are any specific questions you have about the car, I really cann't tell you, but if you want to talk about it more, pm me. I have some pictures that I took of the car.

How bad are the cars hurt? You sould be able to pull engine and trans from the 82 and put it in one of the 240s.

You would have to fix wiring and interior.I dont thing it wouldve hurt the body, unless it was under for a long time. I had a parts car that went swimming for a week and it was still in great shape.

I haven't ruled out restoring the restoration, yet. Keep in mind we are talking 7 feet of water for over a week that was, as the DEQ put it "a toxic soup of raw sewerage and chemicals" . I have not been allowed into the city to see for myself. residents and business owners only for now. Called the bodyman to see what he saw but haven't heard back. I think the 1971 is a possibility. it was just primed a week or two before taking a swim. I do have a brand new NOS dash in my shed , but all the wiring and instruments are probably shot. we shall see. primer is not water tight you know. And i am wondering how much more $$$$ to throw good after bad.

Strip the cars back to shells, and have them dipped, and get back to them-the caustic bath will remove anything that the car could have encountered.

More money, but a one shot cancelization of the bad potentials from the week under water.
