I removed the tank from the 78 I'm working on. Any suggestions on what to use to clean out the tank would be helpful.

Actually, you've got a couple of ways you can do it...

DIY....POR15 after having tank hot-tanked for several days. Multi step process (Fairly cheap)

Have someone else do it...(Slightly more money)

Send it off to somewhere like "Tank-Renu" (Price will vary depending on condition of tank. Could be anywhere in the price range of $300-$400+ or higher) Do a search on "Tank-Renu" and you should come up with several url's for websites.

Been there several times. Call a radiator shop. They should be able to hot vat the tank then seal the inside for little money.

I agree with Pete. I had mine done at a radiator shop for less than $100. Worked out great.

The #1 thing, is get the tank boiled at a radiator shop...the tank kit from POR15 for just the sealing is like $50 and is real easy to do. I couldn't believe how easy it was, and it is permanent--you'll never have to worry about the inside of your tank again...
