jbortho Posted October 11, 2005 Share #1 Posted October 11, 2005 I am having difficulty on choosing a color for my restored 1971 240z. It is an original white california car. Should I keep it white or go with a brighter color. Will changing the color reduce its value. I am color confused. I want to keep it original, but white looks so plain.Jeff
kurtwwalters Posted October 11, 2005 Share #2 Posted October 11, 2005 My 72 is white - I'm going to have it repainted white. I like the look with the 240Z decal down the side in black. I'm going to change my interior to white also. I'm in phoenix so white=cooler. Black interiors here make your car into an oven.
240ZX Posted October 11, 2005 Share #3 Posted October 11, 2005 Chrome it !!! Seriously, paint it what ever color you wish! let's face it, who has to live with that decision anyway......not I! Painting it white sounds like what you really want anyway. It is only my opinion but, any stock Z is pretty.....as you stated, PLAIN. Make a statement, live a little, push the envelope, make women weep amd chidren run for cover.......or, just paint it PLAIN old white. However, you make the call! MikeW Posted October 11, 2005 Share #4 Posted October 11, 2005 Another advantage of sticking with white is that white more visible than most others and therefore you're less likely to get hit by someone who's not paying enough attention to their driving. yoogener Posted October 11, 2005 Share #5 Posted October 11, 2005 I love beige. =DI like simple and nothing too flashy. White and black are great too but i'm not too good at taking care of them.
2003z Posted October 11, 2005 Share #6 Posted October 11, 2005 white also hides bodywork imperfections.
dkd021 Posted October 12, 2005 Share #7 Posted October 12, 2005 I was going through the same when my car came back from the blaster. My '72 is originally silver/red & since I'd already bought an all new red interior, I considered going with white/red. However, I've decided to keep it the original silver. But I sure like that red with white interior.

zguitar71 Posted October 12, 2005 Share #11 Posted October 12, 2005 If you are restoring it to exact originality I would keep the white. If being original does not matter go to the color you like.
Dans240z Posted October 12, 2005 Share #12 Posted October 12, 2005 I have aways wondered about the value. I don't know enough to say. Of course it's your choice, so I'm not not saying this to push you! but I'd lean to keeping the car white. Does white really hide bad body work?
