October 13, 200519 yr comment_141554 I think he meant as in the better of the modern sports cars. That said, I bet you the torsional rigidity would be better in an MX-5 Miata! October 13, 200519 yr comment_141577 there is no problem with open doors on a car when its jacked or on a hoist . chassis are not designed with doors as a load bearing item although difficulty opening and closing them while the car is lifted may happen as soon as the car is on the ground all is well. i am a auto technition by trade and went to school for chassis fabrication . note that on badly rusted vehicles the doors may have become load bearing , but at that point finding another car would be in your best intrest. October 13, 200519 yr comment_141597 See told ya! Told us what? The orginal question had to do with the car being on a jack with one wheel lifted not on a hoist or jackstands or bricks/blocks/crates, etc., and not a damn thing to do with Mazdas either! October 14, 200519 yr comment_141667 My Z was up for 6 years and the only thing I can see wrong is the front driver side strut is maxed out. My "opinion" is: I don't think the doors would have much of an effect on the frame as fas as "twisting" it. It would, however, effect the weight distributed when the car is in the air/ on jacks or on a lift, but not by much.
