damn Semi's in the fast lane!!!.... stuck in traffic, and this semi, that was in the far left lane, decides he has to be in my lane....he can't see me becuase of the large blind spot(which is why trucks in the fast lane are illegal in mosts states, except Texas). I'm just sitting there in traffic, and he crunches the left rear quarter panel!! did about 2100 dollars in damage.

NOOOOO!

The trucker's insurance is covering it right...or did they slap you with it for some stupid "blind spot" violation?

In Illinois, it's illegal to drive ANYTHING in the fast lane unless you're passing (new law, very stupid) but that doesn't stop rigs or anyone else.

there paying me out of pocket.... I faxed them an estimate, and theyre sending me a check... I'm keeping my fingers crossed on the check, but I have email copies as back up incase they don't pay.. and I'll take it to my insurance.... I have full coverage.. I just sucks cause there were some track events coming up that I may have to miss... The tire rubs on the fender, so I can't drive it as is....

Why is that stupid? It seems to me that the rule has always been "keep right except to pass" and if everyone followed that rule things would be much better. Even here in Atlanta, where's it's common to have 5 or 6 lanes in one direction, I make a point to trying to drive faster than the people to my right and slower than those to my left. If I'm not driving fast enough to make that work then I need to move to the right. Admittedly the exception to this is when you need to make a left turn. I have a rule for that as well. Here's the proper order: put on your turn signal, get into the turn lane, then brake. I often see that done in the completely opposite order.

Not stupid! Excellent law! Only impacts the stupid left lane bandits that like to sit in the left lane and block traffic. Stay right except to pass! Get outta my way! If you can't pass, don't get in the left lane.

That law is to stop the old folks who followed the published advice of AARP and drive only in the left lane because stats prove more accidents happen in the right lane.

I would like to get a hold of the idiot that came up with that logic-when used properly, the left lanes cary more trafic-it stands to reason they would log more accidents-not to mention many other reasons having to do with roadway layout and construction.

Just a word of advise here. Even though you have full coverage on the car . Unless you have a agreed upon value policy , you are driving a old car, in the insurance companies eyes . This vary thing just happened with a fellow Z driver I know , and the ins co was going to total the 240 because of a broken tail light and a bent finisher . I am not kidding . They were generously going to write a check for $1200. for a nice car. After a lot of hassel and a couple of months of anguish he did end up with the car and $2500. Your car , at least the one pictured , is vary nice looking the paint looks rather new . are you sure that the $2100. is going to cover the costs of repair ? That kind of money dosent go vary far when the cost of repaint and the labor of bondo free meatel work is all added up . Good luck . Gary
