yoogener Posted October 21, 2005 Share #1 Posted October 21, 2005 I have a '71 240Z with a '73 dash. The dash contains the '73 wiring but the rest of the wiring is still '71. My taillights, hazards, turn signals, and reverse lights all function correctly. The only thing is that the left brake light doesn't work but the right one does. All the bulbs work but when I press the brakes, the left brake lights won't get power. Anyone ever have a similar problem or have a solution?I checked my hazard switch to see if power gets sent out to the brake wires and the whole assembly is fine so now I don't know where there lacks power for the left brake light.Thanks. EScanlon Posted October 21, 2005 Share #2 Posted October 21, 2005 Your turn signals work ok yet the brakes are not? That is odd as the circuitry wiring is the same to the back from the dash.Could you elaborate a bit?E
Arne Posted October 21, 2005 Share #3 Posted October 21, 2005 The brake light feeds (individual left and right) also go through the turn signal switch. A bad contact in the switch could cause the lights to flash with the turn signals but not work for the brakes.Edit - I don't think this is true for later cars, but it is true for 240s.Edit 2 - This is not the case for 240s other than in the US, either. EScanlon Posted October 22, 2005 Share #4 Posted October 22, 2005 Excellent post Arne. I'd forgotten that little bit of info. That really limits where to look for the bad connection. E
